Hooping
stretchy fabric can cause puckering.
It is best to use a sticky type
stabilizer when you embroider with
knits. Only hoop the stabilizer.
Place your outer hoop on a flat
surface. Place sticky stabilizer
with the protected, sticky side
up on the hoop.
Press your inner
hoop into the outer hoop. Tighten
the screw. Score the protective
topping of the stabilizer with
a pin – just score the topping.
Tear off the topping.
Gently press
your knit onto the stabilizer.
Don’t stretch the knit as you lay
it on the stabilizer. Make sure
there are no bubbles or folds in
the fabric.
You’re ready to
stitch. Be careful if you are using
a finished garment. Make
sure none of the garment catches
under your hoop while stitching.
If your embroidery machine has
a basting in the hoop function,
use this to further keep your fabric
in place.
The
Schmetz Gold needle’s Titanium
coating resists adhesives and is
perfect for this application.
